Mimi Pinheiro is an Azorean-American painter from New Bedford, MA, currently residing in New Orleans. She studied drawing in the workshop of the Mexican painter, José Barbosa Aguayo, an Expressionist from the Collective Grupo Suma in Mexico City. She studied oil painting with Toro Amillategui and Ramón Peñaloza, in Centro Historico, DF; and is part of the collective El Quinto Piso in Centro Historico and Mooni Gallery in Condesa. She continues to create still life’s and figure paintings from her New Orleans studio.

Her paintings explore obsessions, often with petty objects. She processes her cultural position and subconscious tendencies by translating objects into personal cult images, a form of idolization and devotional painting.

Mimi also has a long history of Live Arts, installations and creating various art objects. She is inspired by absurdist humor, disgusting splendor, decorative arts and elaborate parties.

Paintings and drawings available for collection through Mooni in Condesa, Mexico City and Merchant House in New Orleans LA. Contact Mimi if you would like to see new unframed work currently available for collection, before it hits the public.
